I am a NYS licensed clinical psychologist. I blend years of life experience with my formal educational knowledge as a psychologist into my psychotherapy and assessment work. I strive to create a therapeutic relationship with my clients that is based on warmth, trust, and a sense of safety. I also proudly incorporate Jewish wisdom and values into my work, blending it and framing it within the context of the individual's lived experience and current challenges. I strive to fully encapsulate the perfect harmony that Jewish thought and current trends in mental health science can achieve in facilitating an individual's wellness when both fully woven into the fabric of the person's true and eternal self: their soul.
I have extensive experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities (Intellectual Disabilities, Autistic Spectrum Disorders, Down Syndrome) particularly in providing psychoeducation and support to families on caring for their developmentally disabled family member and navigating systems to find the right educational, medical, and therapeutic supports. I also have years of experience working with senior citizens. I provide grief counseling, psychoeducation on navigating the unique challenges that come with older age, and support to navigate systems and find resources helpful to the unique interests, physical, and medical needs of this wonderful population.
I also specialize in working with the needs of adolescents and children. I have specialized training in Child Centered Play Therapy and Filial Therapy, delivered directly by Dr.Rise Van Fleet herself. I have specialized training in teaching coping skills, self awareness, enhanced self esteem, and improved executive functioning skills in individuals with ADHD.
I also have a passion for working with adults and children suffering from anxiety disorders, trauma, divorce situations, family dysfunction, or the impact of serious psychiatric mental illnesses (schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, or personality disorders). I have extensive experience providing support and coaching to families who are struggling with a newly diagnosed family member with serious and chronic psychiatric conditions.
I am trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Acceptance Commitment Therapy, Psychodynamic therapy, and Internal Family Systems approaches, which I primarily use to treat trauma, PTSD, ADHD, personality disorders, and mood disorders. I’m currently working on certification in Somatic Processing techniques as an additional tool in treatment of these conditions.
Upon request, I am able to provide psycho-educational testing and bariatric assessments (for clearance for bariatric surgical procedures).I am also currently training in performing diagnostic assessments for autistic spectrum disorders using the ADOS-2.
I look forward to serving the community and using my skills, knowledge, and experience to support, uplift, and improve the quality of life of Klal Israel.
