Changing our Lousy Stories II: Designing the Constructs for Cultural Competence (3 CE Credits - Cultural Competence)
Wednesday, July 21, 2021, 1:45 PM EST
Presenter: Rebecca Dietz, LICSW, Founder and Coordinator, Speak Up HoCo!
These webinars offer 3 Live Interactive Continued Education Hours
In this training, we will look at the psychology and function of stereotypes. We will fine-tune our own awareness about how our brains unconsciously pull discordant constructs from our shared social history about groups of people. We will examine what we want to learn and unlearn. We will analyze the gifts and challenges of living in a diverse society. As an example, we will examine how the planned community of Columbia MD has spent the last 50 years trying (sometimes failing, sometimes succeeding) to create an integrated town, and consider ways to walk and work through distance, distrust and animosity.
