Attendees will learn how to establish a foundation for initial and subsequent sessions. They will learn how to empower their patient/client population and use those strengths to help them reach their therapeutic goals.
This will include the technique of appropriate confrontation when warranted. They will learn the concept of "I need your help" as an empowering technique that can help the patient/client seemingly take "control" of the session.

Class 2
How Do I Know If I Am Making a Difference?
2:15 PM - 3:15 PM EST
In psychotherapy, numerous challenges and potential conflicts can arise throughout the therapeutic process. Therapists may sometimes feel uncertain whether the needs of their clients are truly being met, which can lead to anxiety, frustration, or self-doubt about the progress being made in sessions.
The primary aim of this workshop is to equip therapists with tools to effectively "measure" progress from both the client's and the therapist's perspectives. Participants will learn how to identify common barriers that may hinder progress and explore ways to address these obstacles openly with clients. Through a combination of theoretical insights and practical techniques, the workshop will also examine the therapist's internal struggles regarding the perceived lack of progress, offering strategies to facilitate productive discussions and interventions with clients to improve outcomes.
