Of the many couples therapy modalities currently in existence, Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy (EFCT) is the only evidence-based modality considered effective for treating couples, with a goal not only of reducing conflict but of fostering and deepening the connection and bond between partners.
This three-hour introductory course will provide clinicians of all levels of training with an understanding of the theoretical underpinnings of EFCT; the structure and process of EFCT; and the foundational elements of a clinical approach to working with clients using EFCT. As an experiential model, EFCT is best demonstrated through an emotional experience, so this workshop will make use of emotionally-driven videos; interactive role-plays; and a live presentation of EFCT in action. At the conclusion, participants will be able to verbalize the unique elements of EFCT; apply these elements to their own practice; and determine if this modality is the right one for them to invest in further.
