The trauma literature richly describes how perpetrators inject themselves into the minds of their victims. They continue to elicit fear in their victims long after the traumatic event occurred. A central part of recovery is freeing people from their subjugating ties to their perpetrator. The classic Torah commentators and the Hasidic masters were sensitive to this dynamic in the Biblical story of the Jews enslavement and liberation from Egypt. This webinar will place the trauma literature in dialogue with these Torah sources to provide a new angle on the Exodus story, and a spiritual context to appreciate trauma therapy.

Dov Finkelstein, LCSW is a psychotherapist in private practice in Passaic, NJ and leads reading groups for therapists. He was a Clinical Instructor of Psychiatry at NYU School of Medicine for eight years.
